Do you love sushi? Well, I do. 😀
Well, I think there’s almost noone who doesn’t know what sushi is. Sushi is one of the most famous Japanese cuisine all around the world. If someone said they love Japan, I’m sure they must have been at least eat sushi once (well, although this theory hasn’t been proven yet. :p).
Today, I was so happy and feeling lucky to get to experience learning making sushi here in Japan, the country of sushi itself. And to add, I don’t have to pay anything! 😀 WOOHOO!!! \(=w=)/ Thanks to Ryu who invites me to join him on an event held by one of his advisor from his scolarship program (Kawatsura-san, thank you very much!).
The event was held at Horikawa Inn, owned by Kawatsura-san, Ryu’s advisor. It’s located near Nijo Castle, so it’s one of recommended place to stay in my opinion. 😉
So, the event started around 12 o’clock and was held by Umemori Sushi School (they have a Facebook page! Go check them out! 😉 Oh, few of the pictures here are also taken from their Facebook page. :p).
Before we started the lesson, we were given 7 ingredients (with the eight ingredients will be given later on). It looks beautiful, and I feel a bit sad didn’t get the courage to take a picture of it. 😥 It was Tuna-Squid-Salmon-Shrimp-Egg-Saba-Fish Egg. It looks delicious. :9
The ‘students’ are divided into 2 group, and each group was supervised by one teacher. My line was supervised by Umemori Sushi School’s Principal’s third daughter (if I’m not mistaken, her name was Shiho?).
She taught us step by step on how to make sushi. Startin from molding the rice to shape like an egg using 1 hand, put the topping on the other hand, and etcetera. 😀 It was fun!!! The most hard thing for me is to scale the rice. She said we have to scale the rice around 20 grams or so.. i usually ended up 19 grams or 21 grams. 😥
But nevertheless, it was total fun!! XD While making sushi, one of the staff goes around and took picture of everyone. 😀 Here’s me and Ryu in action! 😀 (yep, the thing on my hand was sushi ingredients, rice on the right hand and topping on the left hand :D)
Not so long, we finished making our own sushi! Here’s mine!
Yeah, yeah.. I know it does look messy… (-A-|||) But it must taste good! Since I’m not the one preparing it. :p Hehehe.. 😀
While waiting for the dining time, me and Ryu ended up taking picture of each other. 😀
And Kawatsura-san’s wife was so kind, she take a picture of us together. 😀 YEI!
And you know what? Apparently, we’re not only eating sushi. One by one, another dish was added to our tray. And here’s the end:
Yep, we got a bowl of Kitsune Udon, Tempura, and Miso Soup as an additional! And all of this is for free??? WOAAAAA!!! I’m super lucky!!! \(>///<)/
And so, we started to eat our own creation sushi. And yep, it taste good! :9 Ryu even looks amaze since I usually can’t eat raw sushi. But suddenly almost all the sushi was done. :9 It’s delicious! (I only left the fish egg one, since I can’t eat fish egg. It’s just too fishy…Xp Ryu ended up finishing it :D)
Somehow, the event didn’t end just like that. One by one, we have to introduce ourselves in front of the others. And yep, we got the ‘dare’ as well. I still hate talking in front of the others, so I leave it to Ryu to do the talking. :p
So, we got new knowledge, our stomach is full with good food, we finished introduce ourselves, so it’s time to say goodye. We ended the event with a photo session. 😀 Today was totally fun!
And to add my amaze, they even gave me this sushi making certificate! 😮
God, this is indeed something. 😀
Too bad Fuu and Capt’n can’t join this event since they have to on a tour with their group. :p
Anyways, I guess that’s all for now. 😀 I’m starting to get hungry again just by writing this post. 😥
Sincerely, Bena nDR
PS: Thank you very much to Kawatsura-san and Wife, and also to Umemori Sushi for making this possible. 🙂 Thank you very much!
